Discovering Leadership and Nature: Kalrayan Hills Camp 2024
The Sisterhood Foundation organized a transformative camp from December 20–23, 2024, at Aalam Pannai in Kalrayan Hills. Thirteen students from Chennai and Virudhachalam participated, exploring cultural heritage, environmental conservation, and self-reliance through hands-on activities.
Highlights included visits to Vellimalai Falls and Nallinam farmland, storytelling sessions, and a campfire. The experience fostered leadership skills, team building, and a deeper connection with nature. Coordinated by four facilitators and led by trainer Prasanna, the camp concluded with invaluable life lessons for the students.
Day 1: Orientation and Expectations
The camp commenced on December 20, 2024, with an orientation program conducted by coordinators to familiarize students with the purpose of the event and its guidelines. Rules and regulations were outlined, setting the tone for a structured and enriching experience. The serene environment of Poondi Kaadu, Aalam Pannai in Kalrayan Hills provided the perfect backdrop for immersive learning and reflection.
Day 2: Exploration and Learning
On December 21, the day began with activity sessions led by Mr. Prasanna, emphasizing teamwork. A visit to Vellimalai Falls immersed students in the natural beauty of the region, followed by storytelling and discussions that highlighted personal experiences and cultural insights. These activities enhanced the students’ creativity and communication skills.
Day 3: Culture, Environment, and Team Building
The third day offered a glimpse into sustainable living and agricultural practices with a visit to Nallinam farmland. The students came together to cook their own lunch, an activity that strengthened their bond and fostered a deeper sense of connection. At Aalam Pannai, they explored native plant species, gaining an understanding of environmental conservation. The day ended with a campfire where students shared feedback, reflecting on the transformative impact of the camp.
Day 4: Departure and Reflection
On December 23, the students departed from Kalrayan Hills, carrying with them a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. The camp served as a unique platform to develop leadership skills,build camaraderie, and connect deeply with nature. Coordinated by four facilitators and guided by Prasanna, the camp left an indelible impression on the participants, aligning with the Foundation’s mission to empower young minds.
