The Sisterhood Foundation’s 2023-2024 transformative initiatives include scholarships, leadership programs, and residential camps that empowered 71 students across Tamil Nadu. With ₹290,000 distributed in scholarships, monthly training sessions, and leadership classes, the Foundation nurtured future leaders. It facilitated impactful volunteering activities, hosted a 4-day residential camp, and encouraged social responsibility.
Scholarship and Educational Support
The Sisterhood Foundation allocated ₹290,000 in scholarships to 71 students from Chennai and Virudhachalam in 2023-2024, ensuring access to higher education for underprivileged youth. This initiative covered fields such as nursing, engineering, arts, and sciences, with a focus on empowering economically disadvantaged students.
Leadership Programs and Monthly Classes
Through 16 monthly leadership sessions in Chennai and five in Virudhachalam, students gained exposure to soft skills, gender sensitization, exam preparation, and time management. Trainers conducted offline sessions that fostered teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence. These efforts culminated in enhanced participation from students and created a platform for peer learning and mentorship.
Volunteering and Community Engagement
During the Joy of Giving initiative in October 2023, students visited orphanages and elderly homes, engaging in activities that promote empathy and social responsibility. Contributions from students funded essentials for Anbagam Trust and Turning Point Educational Trust, demonstrating the Foundation’s commitment to instilling a culture of giving back. Such programs connected youth to real-world social issues and encouraged active involvement in community welfare.
Residential Camp for Holistic Development
A 4-day residential camp in Pondicherry brought together students from different regions, providing an enriching experience that combined learning with recreation. Topics like leadership evolution and role-playing on women’s roles in society were explored. Activities such as campfires and visits to cultural landmarks ensured holistic development, creating cherished memories and a stronger network among participants.
